SCC Communications - Read the Writing on the Wall

I just wrote a post full of argument and opinion but what's the point? Who would take any notice?

Sea Cadet Headquarters - ARE YOU SERIOUS? Mobile phones instead of a Communications Branch?

How is that different from what Cadets do in their every day lives?

Where is the sense of achievement from having learned something unusual?

Whatever happened to doing a subject for no other reason than that the Cadets enjoy it?

Heads Up! The SCC IS NOT the junior Royal Navy. It never has been and despite your best efforts, it never will be.

Communicators, sort out a syllabus that SCHQ can swallow and do it now because you're going to get the chop if you don't. It's all about money you know, nothing else.

Yes, chuck out "my" CTM. Put one together of your own. Pare it down to essentials. Dumb down if you have to but for heaven's sake, stop taking this crap up the bum!

Act while you still can. Don't wait for someone else. There IS no-one else.

If you really care, do something about it. Now.

  1. Totally agree with you Brian...they closed my branch down!

What i've done is get on the instructor course and get as many cadets 'doing' as possible... pending getting equipment together my kids are going to have fun on air and use their skills to enjoy themselves.

I don't care about accreditation.. the world is too full of that rubbish! We can operate as a single body 'qualifying' cadets in something fun and different...for heavens sake that's why people join us isn't it? To have fun and to do something different....not another RYA Qual or BTEC?!

  2. its stupid tbh, they forget that the sea cadets is about the kidsenjoying themselves and learning new skills are they going to remove seamanship next because it doesn't come with a fancy ticket from edexcel. This is how traditional and needed skills die out and your left with lotsof jack of all trades and masters of nothing.
